Outdated Team Oriented Methods of Coaching

Coaching Education in America focuses primarily on team organization and methods without teaching “technique”. Its design toward becoming a youth soccer coach, high school coach or collegiate coach only focuses on establishing a “team” mental model of player development, systems of play and group education. No where will you learn how to teach the fundamentals of BallStriking, FootSkills, or individual technique.

How to be a coach with a consistent income.

The current method of educating coaches doesn’t help passionate leaders work with players, build and support their “business” and lifestyle of becoming a coach. LeftFoot Way of Coaching and Phases of Coaching Development does just that in a new way that blends technical systems with business development models to grow as a coach and support yourself financially as well.

What Needs to Change in Coaching Education and Development?

Players aren't getting better because we continue to stay within these constraints

Pay To Play

Seeing a need to standardize coaching, we’ve developed the LeftFoot Way to disrupt the current “pay to play” model in youth soccer training, as well as provide a solution for the deficit in technical expertise among coaches today.

Playing is inherited

More often than not, a student’s way of playing is inherited from the random coaches who teach them at soccer camps or clubs. Form, stance and tactical skills among players are varied because of coaches’ different take on what their students are supposed to do.

LeftFoot Coaching Model

Striving for a uniformity in coaching methods across the board and a benchmark for evaluating their effectiveness are crucial to ensure success. We’ve designed the LeftFoot Coaching Model around these two concepts, as well as teaching coaches business development skills to scale their practice.

Phases of Coaching Licensure

A license to coach and develop your business with us

We’ve organized our instruction into five stages personal and business development:

Senior Practicum: learning and practicing our techniques

Foundation Coach: Instructing FootSkills and One to One Coaching, learning and developing the business of One to One Coaching as well as working within a team of coaches model.

Combination Coach: Instructing our BallStriking Methods and Small Groups. Our BallStriking Methods blend the science and art of coaching. Working with small groups of 3-4 players while building a manageable clientele.

Creative Series Coaching: Instructing Large Group Models and Overall Youth Development Athleticism and Psychology.  Managing annual programming, larger groups of 12-18 players and divisions of clients.

Master Coaching Model: Franchise ownership, Coaching Leadership, development of facility programming.

Each stage and license opens up new opportunities for coaches to understand how to transition from being a learner to a teacher, pick up new skills, and manage their career as a full-fledged soccer coach. Our coaching design also allows coaches to transition in and out of our Academy as they wish upon obtaining our license.

Senior Practicum

Senior Practicum is the first stage of your journey into becoming a licensed coach. Senior Practicum students are those who are currently enrolled in our Senior Academy tuition program and who would like to one day share their love for the game with LeftFoot’s next generation of players. In order to proceed to the next licensure level, Senior Practicum coaches need to complete 35 supervised hours of coaching.

Foundation Coach

Foundation Coaches comprise most of the Junior Assistant coaches that you see in the Academy. This stage of your training is where you are prepared to facilitate private coaching on your own. To qualify for the next licensure level, Foundation Coaches should be able to demonstrate all footskills and should be able to complete 180 hours of coaching and instruction.

Combination Coach

The Combination Coach is an independent contractor who is training under the company as a paid coach. He or she is also known as the Assistant Combination Coach in the Academy and would have to possess technical skills, from Foundation Series progressions to the Low Instep Drive. Like the previous licensure level, this stage includes 180 hours of instruction/coaching as well.
